Skin Cancer Awareness Month

As an esthetician, I understand the importance of maintaining healthy skin. Unfortunately, one of the most prevalent risks to skin health is skin cancer. Skin cancer is the abnormal growth of skin cells, often caused by exposure to UV radiation from the sun or tanning beds. The three most common types of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. These types of skin cancer can vary in severity and can be deadly if left untreated. It's crucial to protect your skin from harmful UV rays by using sunscreen with at least SPF 30, wearing protective clothing and hats, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure during peak hours. As an esthetician, I encourage my clients to take care of their skin and to have any unusual moles or growths checked by a dermatologist. Early detection and prevention are key in maintaining healthy, beautiful skin.
